Situated on the south coast in Cornwall, Looe is a favourite holiday destination with a fine beach, shops, cafes, a working harbour and has a lovely riverside location.  We stay at The Portbyhan Hotel which has recently undergone a £1.2 million refurbishment.  We operated a 'Mystery Tour' to this hotel in February 2014 and we had some great reports back about the hotel.

Detailed Itinerary

  •  We enjoy a visit to the picture postcard historical fishing village of Polperro, where we have time to explore. Following this visit we make our way to the capital of Cornwall, Truro. Centre stage is Truro Cathedral with its impressive Gothic towers dominating the skyline. From boutiques to bookshops and designer interiors to delicatessens, this great little city offers a unique shopping experience.
  • An excursion which takes us to Port Isaac, a traditional village and home to the TV series 'Doc Martin'. A truly picturesque village with narrow winding streets lined with whitewashed cottages that head down to the harbour. From here we continue to Padstow, at the head of the Camal River. With its natural beauty made up of rugged coastline Padstow is the perfect place to relax and unwind and is also known as a Top Foodie Destination!

 

The Portbyhan Hotel

The Portbyhan Hotel is situated in an unrivalled position right in the heart of Looe, allowing guests to relish the panoramic views of the vibrant harbour with only a short stroll into Looe town. 

The Edwards family, who operate an award-winning holiday company in South Wales, purchased the hotel in June 2013 and have since invested over £2.1 Million in a full-refurbishment of the exterior, bedrooms, restaurant, bar and public areas. These renovations, the location and the excellent services that the hotel offers have all contributed to the Portbyhan Hotel recently winning “Best Individual Hotel” at the prestigious National Coach Tourism Awards.
